I've had no problem with the current GCC on other source-based Linux distros. In fact, I've bootstrapped a system with GCC 4.0.3, Glibc 2.4, and the 2.6.16.x kernel. |

certainly that's nice to know. did you also try on ppc? sparc? x86_64? did you try to build and run against a 2.4 kernel? legacy applications?
these are all considerations that we need to keep in mind before we decide to upgrade gcc. Please keep this in mind ;^) |
