Is this why >lunar update broke my system? Now I don't have X, and when I log in as root, I have read-only filesystem?
What is this "huge update" crap? What am I, a guinea pig for someone's hobby? |

Unbelievably, my /home directory is completely empty after doing this lunar update. What gives? |

AFAIK the recently introduced lunar-init module makes it easier to maintain certain related files in /etc/init.d that used to handled awkwardly by other modules. The current version of lunar-init won't overwrite these files if they already exist and are different to the ones supplied by lunar-init itself.
One of these files is /etc/init.d/mount. Is it possible that you have moved/replaced a customised version of this file? Could this explain why /home appears to be missing?
What exactly did you do to install the 'huge update' - run 'lunar update' or install individual modules manually? What errors did you get? Are there any failed module messages in /var/log/lunar/activity? What exactly are the problems now?
If you can, you might want to ask on the #lunar channel on IRC. Depending on the time of day and which devs are available, you might get more 'real-time' help. Sorry I can't be more help, but then I'm just a user... |

Oh, what the hell, it was time to upgrade to 2.6 anyway. I've recovered from this. Long live Lunar, or whatever. Morituri te salutamus. |

What I did, by the way, was not notice the info on the website. I ran a lunar update, thought that it worked, and rebooted. That screwed up my system and yes, I didn't see home because I didn't have it mounted. I just took the opportunity to reinstall Lunar with the 2.6 kernel, paying attention this time to the /etc/init.d issue, and everything is OK now.
However, I suggest that somebody should build some new ISOs that don't have this problem attached to them, so that folks new to Lunar don't have to fool with it. |
