What is the reason that Lunar is not using an up-to-date version of gcc, the latest being gcc-4.0.2 ? My main reason for asking is that gcc-4.0.2 supports GNU Fortran (close to Fortran 95), while gcc-3-whatever only supports Fortran 77. I would rather not build a separate gcc just to use GNU Fortran. |

There were large issues in the past with older glibc and kernel version numbers. It took us a long time to figure out some of those and not until glibc-2.3.5 did this get sorted out. We're a bit careful with updates - but I'm sure in time gcc will be at 4.x |

Yea I fucked up another OS with gcc4 this summer, and since the Archlinux developers know nothing, they had no old versions. There was no gcc-3 package. Just 4....3 works fine. _________________ In Soviet Russia, ISOs install you. |
