|
|
I have recently installed lunar and am fairly happy with the distro so far. Unfortunately, I am now having some problems trying to install the gaim module (and a few "optional" dependencies).
When I configure the module install to include the mozilla module, I am getting a compile error on Mozilla. When I configure the module install to include the gnutils module, there is an error trying to get the module libgcrypt (in fact, the ftp server for this module does not seem to be running).
Finally, and perhaps most alarming, when I configure the module to install without either of these "optional" modules, the install hangs on the line "checking nspr.h presence... "
I am a newbie to lunar and may be missing something simple, but could not find any answers in the logs. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks. |

mozilla failing building is of course not good but you might wanna post the error otherwise there's little we can do...
the mirror of libgcrypt being down (again) is of course nothing we can deal with but i'll throw libgcrypt version online for you :
http://merlin.ugent.be/libgcrypt-1.2.2.tar.gz
put that file in /var/spool/lunar/
(it will be checksummed so don't worry)
and gaim failing building without both of them... i'll try to look into that but prolly that will be hard as i have firefox installed wich provides the nspr.h file too...

Things worked perfectly after placing the libgcrypt module as directed. Thanks for the help. |

I am having some more (similar) problems installing other modules. For instance, when I attempt to install openoffice, I get the same error as mentioned about (where install hangs on the line "checking nspr.h")
I performed a simple search for nspr.h on my system and found it at: /usr/include/firefox-1.5.0.3/nspr/nspr.h
Is this a bug or just some dumb mistake on my end?
Any suggestions for making the install realize that this file exists and use it?
Thanks in advance,
Lee |

please try the new 'nss' module, it is already integrated into gaim and might fix your openoffice problem
Note: compiling openoffice yourself is:
1) stupid
2) very time consuming
3) likely to fail
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone |
