Frequent Power Outages - Need Help

Where I am located there are frequent Power Outages [ every two three hours ] and no UPS.

What will be the best practice / options to try install Lunar on a PIII 892Mhz with 512 ram [ I know it is pretty slow will take a while to install Lunar hence this request for tip] under these circumstances ?

Next what options must be selected so that after installation during use power goes out [ it will go no doubt in it ] then system can re-boot and resume as if with proper shut down.

The initial installation from the ISO will need to be done on one session, because AFAIK there is no restart-in-the-middle facility.

For each module that you need to install or re-install after that, you could run lin -dep module or lvu tree module to see what other modules it depends on. With lvu the colour coding and bracketing will show whether modules are installed or not, or are optional. You can then start at the leaf modules and install those one at a time.

You can also check the dependencies of a module via the Modules page, but as it can't know what is installed on your system and the output won't be colour coded, you will need to check whether each module is installed using lvu installed module.

However, for modules that have a lot of dependencies, such as XOrg7, this is quite a time-consuming and intensive task. I'm not on a Lunar box at the moment, but you should be able to add modules to the installation queue using the lunar command and then just keep running lunar renew (?) after each power failure until the queue is cleared.

Check the lunar, lvu and lin man pages for details.

Bear in mind that building the kernel, or larger modules like firefox, will take a long time on a slow box like yours, and you might require several attempts if the power failures are as frequent as you say.

Run lunar, select Queue from the menu, and then Edit install queue and add the modules in the appropriate order.
