Hello, I've use gentoo for a couple of weeks and it be first time for my linux experience. then I've found Lunar on arch's web. I want to try lunar but I've some question.
1- In Lunar x86-64 it's only pure 64 bit then how can I get 32 bit programs work on it or I should select i686 instead
2- How do I know which versions of gnome xfce or kde that on Lunar official
3- Compare to gentoo which one take more time to compile
4- There are no USE Flags in Lunar, Right?. And what do you think about gentoo's Use Flags. Is it good or unnecessary?
At least I'm not sure or I'm think to myself that Lunar's Document is a little bit less compare to other distro.

Well I'm no Lunar Wizard - just a user who is prepared to answer questions on the forum Smile - but as far as I am aware:

1. Lunar does not support multi-lib, so you have to choose for a complete 32-bit or a complete 64-bit system, but there are some applications which don't run in 64-bit. As far as I remember, grub is one of them. I don't remember the others because I run a 32-bit system.

2. If you want to check module versions before you install, you should go to Modules page. You can also check a module's dependencies, and link directly to its home web site for more information. But remember that Lunar Linux is a rolling source distribution, so things are being updated all the time, and you also have the power to create and update your own local modules if you need to.
Edit: the Modules page has not been updated since the switch to git - Sad

2a. Note that DistroWatch has a summary page for each distro that lists the distro's versions of some key modules/packages, so you could get an overview there.

3. I've never used Gentoo, but I would imagine that in general the compile time depends more on your hardware rather than the distro being used.

4. No, there are no use flags. Most of the modules offer sensible defaults, and if they have optional dependencies on other modules they will probably ask you what to do the first time you install. You can always override by using --opts or creating a local copy of the module and updating the build instructions yourself.

And finally, yes, there isn't much in the way of documentation. That's partly deliberate because most applications already have their own documentation and web sites, and as you really need to be connected to the internet to make best use of Lunar, you can always search the web. And partly because nobody likes to write documentation: they would more rather answer your question directly on the #lunar IRC channel. (And that's why forum registration directs you to the #lunar IRC channel, so that you can ask directly and get immediate help if you are lucky)
