XFCE in its current form will not compile. Gcc objects to line 1700 of taskbar.c, issuing something like, "label at end of compound statement." I would like to fix this up so that I can get XFCE to compile on my wife's laptop, but it seems that "lin xfce" creates this file every time -- so that my attempts to fix it up get overwritten.
For what it is worth, I had a very easy Lunar install on this i686 Toshiba laptop using a 1.6.0 rc1 disk that I had lying around. The only problem was that it failed to write grub to the MBR, something that I had to do myself from the grub command line. In general for some time, I have had the impression that grub is less well supported by Lunar than lilo is, which would be unfortunate if true, since grub is a much nicer tool. |
