The man page says that after installation, i should do a lin theedge, but when i do it tells me that /dev is devfs, and that it wont install the module. Should i worry about doing installing theedge, or can i skip that step and go right to installing lunar? Using the latest stable ISO available

Lunar Lunar comes with a stable installation management system called 'lunar' which should be enough for most users.

The development version of the installation management system is called 'theedge' instead, just to avoid any confusion, and it is where new ideas are tried out as the requirements of Lunar Linux change. Unless you are actively involved in Lunar development, you probably don't need 'theedge'.

I'm not a dev so I can't give you details whether to devfs or not to devfs is significant in the choice of the 'theedge' over the 'lunar' module, but I hope the explanation above helps.

The Lunar:FAQ:What_is_theedge? link leads you to an entry that ends with:
Quote:
Theedge is automatically updated if you do a lunar renew or lunar update

I've run lunar update several times, but lvu installed theedge reports that 'theedge' is not installed.
Looks like a typo slipped through, or I've done something wrong on my box Smile

lunar and theedge are the same code - therefore you can only have one of them installed at any time. They both provide lin, lsh, lunar etc. theedge is just the name of the branch that receives much more patches. apart from that there is no difference - everything works 100% the same (well, it should anyway ;^)).

Sorry, Sofar, I didn't mean to spread disinformation. You are right of course. I must have had a brain fade. Embarassed

Maybe the section could be clarified with an introduction such as my text above, and the renew/update line extended to say:
Quote:
Whichever of lunar or theedge you have installed, it will be updated automatically when you do a lunar renew or lunar update.
