First, I have to say the install process had to be the easiest install of any distro I have ever tried in the last eight years. Kudos to all of you for that. I am, however, having a bit of a dependency problem getting to X. I've done all the steps in man lfirsttime and now am trying to install XOrg. The result I get is that is asks me a few questions, and then starts repeating that it's "Checking for dependencies for perl" and then "Checking for dependencies for tk" and it repeats ad infinitum. I let the process go on for four hours just to see what would happen. Any clues?

I apologize up front that I can't post dmesg or other log files, for I am at work and the box is at home. I'm also terrible at using links, so don't even know that I could even if you did ask.

I am using the 1.6.0 install, did the errata, compiled my own kernel from the start (don't think that is it, but could be), booted just fine, etc.

Oh, my box is a home built, ASUS K8 Via chipset w/AMD sempron 3300, SATA 250GB hard drive and ATI 9550, if that helps.

I'd like to get this working. I really am tired of binary distros and would really see what this can do. Thanks in advance for any help given.

I just got home and relooked what I wrote. The dependencies noted were Python, not perl. My apologies. That's what I get for trying to do this from memory.

when something like this happens, press control-C and try to install the module that seems to re-appear over and over again (in this case Python). Once that is done (You'll see that it doesn't loop probably) you are okay to install XOrg.
