So just for the hell of it, I completely removed root after making an identical user named avatar (as in some other *nixes). The only problem is some programs (ie su) look for root and not uid 0 (stupidly). Is there anyway to fix this?

So there's no way in hell it will work with Linux? The only thing that's different form root, is that su - doestn work, so i just have to su avatar, and when runnig lunar tools, it gripes about not running a fully initialized root shell.

it's not possible to find *every* single instance of hard-coded references to "root" in every package.

I can fix the lin/lunar problem tho - will give it a shot for you ;^)
