I got my lunar installed today, im not using the latest release candidate, but the latest stable version, and after i got everything installed and running, I tried to install a window manager without any success. I tried doing a
lin xfce
lin icewm
and lin gnome
i tried gnome last because i was hoping for a smaller WM
when trying to install xfce i got a build error when trying to make freetype
when trying to install the others, after getting a few dependencies they start an infinite loop when it reaches the point of selecting xorg/xfree86
any ideas or help?
edit::
the error when building xfce is when it tries to compile gwin_x11.o with an error 1 code
and then tttest error 2 |

After your initial installation, did you also install XOrg?
So that Lunar can be used for lean and mean web- and mail-servers, or for firewalls, it does not provide X by default. Therefore if you want to have a desktop and graphical applications, you need to install X explicitly.
This means that installing X is a conscious decision by the user, and that installing X applications follows after installing X. All of the X applications assume that X is already installed, so they all lack a DEPENDS rule that checks for X, because this would be redundant.
Try to install XOrg and the XOrg fonts, and then re-install the X desktop(s) and applications. |
