Hi !
I installed lunar but I can get console terminal only.
There is no X11 or XFree86 directory under /etc.
How to install and start xdm/gdm/kdm?
Thanks.

Lunar doesn't come with XOrg installed by default - it purely is a basic install. You will need to install XOrg and your favorite desktop environment after you are done with the ISO:
Code: | lin XOrg ; lin xfce4-profile |
or substitute xfce4-profile with one of your other favorite desktop profiles. |

Hi, I'm a Lunar newbie and I documented my experience with installing Lunar and X on my User talk page. Maybe this will help you too,
I would advise you to install XOrg-basic-fonts and XOrg-extra-fonts after XOrg. |

I tried to install XOrg by lin XOrg.
It went ofr hours and in the end I
got the msg: "Some things are
different from XFree86 f.e.xf86config=
xorg.config xf86cfg=xorgcfg and
/etc/X11/XF86Config=/etc/X11/xorg.
conf "
But I could not find xorg.conf file
under /etc X11 directory.
Please guide me.

Try 'Xorg -configure' or 'xorgconfig' as described in the section 'xfce4 and the 7-button mouse' at the bottom of my User Talk page.
The link doesn't stand out too well on my display, but just click on the words 'User Talk' |

With xorgconfig command now i can
run startx and get a graphical display. But
no window managers present, even though I have lined xfce4.
Once again I am using lin xfce4 and
installing xfce. Side by side using
lynx I am typing this msg from
another console. Probably installing xfce
may take some time. I'll be informing
the result soon.
Thanks

xfce installed . when I ran startx
I get a graphical login screen asking
a username and password. I supply the
same as root user and get a new
screen captioned session menu.
But I could not start xfce.

install gdm for a graphical login manager or even kdm (requires some or more gnome or kde components)
if you have Xfce4 (lin xfce4-profile) then you can start it by doing: |
