I installed lunar and i am trying to install xfce4 or gnome and i keep getting this message
=> '/tmp/atk-1.22.0.tar.bz2'
Resolving ftp.gnome.org... failed: Temprorary failure in name resolution.
wget: unable to resolve host address 'ftp.gnome.org'
/usr/sbin/pppd: In file /etc/ppp/peers/isp: unrecognized option '/dev/modem'
--2009-04-11 10:06:03-- http://download.lunar-linux.org/lunar/cache/atk-1.22.0.tar.bz2
Resolving download.lunar-linux.org... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.
wget: unable to resolve host address 'download.lunar-linux.org'
So then i thought that my eth0 was down so i did the command to start the eth0 again and i still got the same error message.
If some one could tell me what to do or give me a hint that would be great |

1. After you installed from the 1.6.4 ISO and went through 'man lfirsttime' were you able to set up networking using lnet, ping google and then run 'lunar update' etc as described? How have you configured eth0 with lnet?
2. Once you have a network connection you should be able to resolve ftp.gnome.org but you still might want to run the 'lunar' command and change the GNOME mirror setting to something "closer" to you.
3. A limited number of source tarballs that prove difficult to download from their true homes are also made available on the download.lunar-linux.org mirror. It is not standard policy to mirror all tarballs on this mirror.
4. Note that you will need to explicitly install the XOrg7 profile and drivers before you install any of the desktop environments and graphical tools. It will take quite a bit of time to resolve all of its dependencies the first time, so please be patient. |

ok so i did the Lnet and looked my eth0 is down. So i went in to edit devices and did this
Set:
Automatically start? Yes
Kernel module to load: left blank
Use manager? manual
DHCP enabled? Yes
Dhcp client: dhcpcd
DHCP options: -h localhost
Then i went in manage network devices->eth0 [down]->start device and i get:
The action you asked to be performed have failed. You may need to check your device configuration.
I have a cable modem and i run it into a Linksys SR2024 24 port switch. Do i need to set some thing up special for it.
And also i remeber in FreeBSD i had to set up the host name and isp for it to download items. Do i have to do some thing like this for lunar. |
