Problem with partitions???

ill start by emphisizing how newb i am to linux although i have a basic understanding of partitioning n junk.

anywho....

as im trying to install lunar, it tells me to make my partitions so i make 2, one for lunar stuff n the other for whatever i add to my system. then i select the filesystem i want to use (im basically just choosing a random filesystem as i have no clue what the differences are), when i advance to the next step, it wont let me select the set swapfile option so i cant continue on to the next step, installing lunar. maybe my problem has to do with my partitions??? does it matter whether they r primary or logical?? i though i read somewhere that ur root should be installed on a primary partition and ur supporting stuff on a logical.......

I'm no guru, and don't know whether this a problem with your particular setup, or a bug that
has not been squashed on the 1.6.2-beta1 ISO - it is a beta after all! On my 1.6.2-beta1 box
I have three partitions. 1Gb for /boot, 2Gb as swap and the rest for /. All three are primary
partitions. The swap partition was explicitly marked as a swap partition in the 'Edit Partitions'
phase. I skipped over the 'Set swapfile' option during the later steps of the installation.

Note: in previous installations these partitions were /dev/hda[123] but due to some kernel
config changes, the 1.6.2-beta1 ISO installer sets them up as /dev/sda[123]. I didn't notice
and screwed my box when I removed a whole load of SCSI and other options when I built
a new kernel.

Yeah after rebuilding my kernel , i set all my partitions back to hda instead of sda , due to installing new kernels spewed back at me during boot time saying unable to mount root vfs then
showing me the allmighty kernel-panic

but after i popped in the installer cd went to settings during the installation phase and opened a shell went to chroot in , change my fstab/grub its all hda now works fine

And by the by , you need a partition set for swapspace , i do a 2 gig partition
