Boot Loader Won't Install

I've recently installed Lunar, and can't get GRUB or LILO to work properly. LILO returns a helpful error message: "/proc/misc: No entry for device-mapper found." On the next line, it implies that it may be missing from the kernel. Where is the config option?

EDIT: I've added it, and LILO apparently installs, but GAG (My MBR) says that either there is no boot sector on the partition I've installed LILO (with "lilo -b /dev/hda5") on, or it's invalid. Why doesn't the install work?

1) grub code is currently inactive
2) you're not using grub or lilo - but GAG - you'll need to figure out yourself how to install lunar with GAG - lunar has no support whatsoever about GAG. Manually installing a bootloader using a method you know is preferred.
3) the lilo code only works for mbr installs - so go back to 2).
