Upgrading to 2.6 Kernel

Do I need to rebuild the base system before or after booting into the 2.6 kernel?

technically you don't need to rebuild your applications anymore since the new ISO's come with more standard but decent optimizations. If you still wish to rebuild I suggest you do so after rebooting.

Well, I can't recompile glibc with the kernel 2.6 headers; it says they're "TOO OLD".

I checked linux/version.h, and there wasn't anything below 2.6.12. WHy is this so?

try installing the 'kernel-headers-2.6' module
