I am trying to install xorg on an amd64 athlon.
I used lin XOrg7 xterm xclock twm and I am getting the same message again and again: Evil or Very Mad
/var/log/lunar/compile/xproto-7.0.11.bz2
Problem detected during PRE_BUILD

Any idea on how to solve this?

Thanks

Problem lost: I just changed the mirrors in my configuration and it went without nearly any problem (hal and portmap are still not installed, but that's for later Wink )

The view on the #lunar channel was that there wasn't enough information to be able to help you so you have been lucky that the problem appears to have sorted itself.

Is this a fresh installation? If yes, which ISO image did you install from? Did you follow all of the instructions in man lfirsttime? If no, was the system up-to-date before you tried to install XOrg7?

The more relevant information you can give, the more someone is likely to be able to help.

Cheers

This was a fresh install and I used the 1.6.1-x86_64 iso.
I did follow the man lfirsttime instructions and had no real problems with them.
The only thing was that I had to make a lin moonbase before achieving lin theedge. For some reason lin theedge did not work at the first try so I thought updating the moonbase could help and it did it.
After this I tried installing XOrg7 with lin XOrg7 xterm xclock twm and got some problems. It seemed to me that I could not download all the needed modules. So, I thought there is something wrong with the chosen mirrors and I changed them. Actually I was first using mirrors situated in Belgium but saw this morning there is a problem with one of them (impossible to login as anonymous user), so I chose the Master servers or server situated in Germany and France. This solved the problem.
Next step was installing xfce4.
I first tried lin xfce4-profile but it did not work, so I tried lin xfce and it stopped because of problems with hal.
So I checked my XOrg7 installation and saw that xterm, xclock and twm were well installed but not XOrg7 (there was no startx on my pc).
Then I tried lin XOrg7 again and saw hal was making problems (not installing). After a quick look at the lunar forum, I found that I could first try lin kernel-headers-2.6 and did it. After this, I made lin hal, then lin XOrg7 and finally lin xfce4 and it all worked without any problem.
Now I am trying to achieve lin update because portmap is still not installed (or updated) and to install firefox.
About installing firefox it seems something is wrong with qt4. I let you know when I will have this solved (if ever Very Happy )
