What is the purpose of the "zbeta" section?

I want to install XOrg 7.0, it seems to be available in the "zbeta" section of Lunar Linux. So, my question is: What purpose does this
"zbeta" section serve? Is it like the development branch of Lunar Linux?

Is it OK to install stuff from "zbeta"? Or will this break my Lunar Linux system? Should I stay away from the "zbeta" section?

I'm not a dev, and no doubt one of the devs can give you a better answer, but...

If I understand it correctly, the modules in zbeta are probably at the cutting edge, either because the applications themselves are works in progress, or the creation of the Lunar modules is a work in progress. The second case might apply because the devs don't have the hardware to test against, such as the madwifi-cvs that I'm using for my Atheros-based wireless network, or because the devs have so many modules installed on their systems that they can't be sure that they haven't missed anything from the module dependency list.

So the fact that the module is in zbeta means the devs have done as much checking as they can, and it should run, but you might have problems with it.

As I said, I've been using madwifi-cvs from zbeta, and I've never had a problem. YMMV

Thanks for your answer.

I'll try the XOrg 7.0 version and if there are problems, I'll report them in the bug tracking system.
