New to Lunar I'm experiencing a problem with VIM and the backspace key. Everytime I try to backspace I get a ^?. The same happens in vim like interfaces like less, more, and man. It works fine on the terminal though. In emacs I get a "end of buffer" if at the end of a line, and delete key functionality otherwise. Any suggestions?

this happens with readline and /etc/inputrc being broken somehow, often you can fix it by removing /etc/inputrc and any ~/.inputrc files, and reinstalling readline. If the problem persists copy /etc/inputrc to ~/.inputrc and relogin.

I'm getting the same problem, I removed the inputrc files and then reinstalled readline but the ^? still persists in VIM

no clue why the newer iso's have this problem but I suggest one of the newer readline versions.

I just added the 'stty erase' command to the readline profile.d file, meaning that if you update readline after today, it should be fixed for new logins.
