Hi I (think I) installed lunar 1.4.0

I'm trying to get a very minimal installation on this old computer to use as a log server. I have almost everything working that I need, network, sshd, but not a logging program like syslogd.

Heres the problem. I have typed lin moonbase and lin man (though that might be useless unless I know how to get man pages for stuff), and that works great. Whether or not I type lin sysklogd before or after I type lin lunar, I get this error.

Building sysklogd
cat: sysklogd.patch: No such file or directory
! Broken patch file sysklogd.patch
Creating /var/log/lunar/compile/sysklogd-1.4.1.bz2
! Problem detected during BUILD

So the moonbase list has this thing called sysklogd in it, but I cant install it. Is this the right program to try and install?

Now if I type lin lunar... which I understand is a program to help manage packages... it gives this odd error.

Checking dependencies for rpmunpack
lunar: Install & use option (not yet installed) module cvs
dependency - purpose: to be able to download cvs source? [n] n
/sbin/lin: line1: mquery: command not found
/sbin/lin: line2: mquery: command not found
/sbin/lin: line3: mquery: command not found

Are these bugs?

I may not need lunar if lin adds packages. Thats all I want to do is add one more package. syslogd is on my other linux machnes so thats why I thought to get it for lunar... but whats this xfslogd thing already running, is that good for what I am trying to do? I am not used to very much advanced linux stuff, so please help.

Maybe I need a newer version of lunar?

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

please don't install 1.4.0 anymore - it's very old and you will run into hundreds of bugs that were fixed since. You really should use 1.5.1 to install - 1.5.1 also comes preinstalled with a basic logging daemon (lard) and should be far far far easier to install!

1.5.1 was released 20050818, also 1.5.0 is already way more than 4 months old, if not more.
